DO, DOES, DON´T AND DOESN´T

The Use off do/does in relation with the pronouns

We use do/does or is/are as question words when we want to ask yes/no questions. We use does and is with third person singular pronouns (he, she, it) and with singular noun forms. We use do and are with other personal pronouns (you, we they) and with plural noun forms.

Functions on sentences

‘Do’ and ‘Does’ are the helping verbs or auxiliary verbs used in Simple Present Tense. They are basically used to make negative and interrogative sentences.

Does:    It is used with the Third Person Singular pronoun(he, she, and it) and Singular nouns.

Example:

  • He does not play table tennis.
  • Does it work with all the electronic devices?
  • Jim does not like this type of songs.

Do:  Do is used with all the remaining pronouns (except he, she, and it) and plural nouns.

Example:

Do we have to submit the project on Monday?

I do not work here.

These projects do not add any value to society.
